My Package Has Arrived - Wood Sconces

My new wood sconces are here! I was doing some tweaking to the sconces I had hanging in the dinning room after I had the bowl rack hung. Oh - no! I broke one of the glass lanterns and broke the one arm off the sconce. The arm was a bit bent and I thought I could pull on it and bend it into shape. Well that did not work out to well. What to do next? Firecrackerkid Primitives had these wood sconces I really liked. So here they are hung up on each side of the bowl rack. If you remember I posted some photos of the bowl rack and a rolling pin bowl keep I got a while back from Firecrackerkid Primitives. I like these wood sconces much better. I still need to get a few more butter bowls to fill the rack and some kind of candles to put in the wood sconces . I think I my have come up with a solution to the ugly furnace door until the furnace is moved to the basement and I get a pantry. I am hoping sooner than later. If not - I was thinking of a panel made of the same pine planks we used to cover the closet door. The panel could be used all summer and then easily removed this winter if the furnace is not moved by then. Above the unpainted pine plank pieces on the furnace door is the rolling pin bowl keep made by Firecrackerkid Primitives. Rain For The Flower Garden

We have had showers off and on all day. The rain will do the flower garden good. I have been busy doing a bonnet to hang on a peg rail or a doll and thinking about our kitchen. Trying to think of a way to conceal that furnace door until the furnace is moved to the basement and I get that hole for a pantry. I would like to do something with the cupboards. Hubby has agreed to a change. I am so tickled. The Azaleas and some Firewitch Dianthus have been added to the garden. We have Mountain Laurel growing wild threw out the woods and it is so petty too. Our strawberry plants are blooming. They get such sweet berries. I seen a tree at a local school but I have no idea what it is. I would like to know. Do you know? These little clusters of flowers are on the branches. I smelled them after taking this photo. They are so pretty but I can not say that about the smell. I am looking forward to a package comming from Firecracker Kid. Some wood sconces. Maybe Monday? The wood items are always wonderful! I need a bigger home with more wall space to hang them. They Have Arrived

Hubby took me for a drive the other day and we picked up two of these beautiful azalea bushes to add to the rock beds. Just waiting for one of the boys to get home and plant them. Another plant has started to bloom this week also. Such beautiful blue flowers. Just waiting for a butterfly to land. One of our ducks has flew into the flower garden and is taking a walk threw the yard. Last week I took a photo of Ollie walking on the rocks. She could balance her self well even carring her little family within. When Hubby came back from the barn today he brought news that Ollie's kittens had arrived. Under her were four little kittens when I moved her.

New Doll - Andy

She is much like the Emma doll posted as For Keeps Or Not. Her name is Andy and her bonnet is alot longer. It took some time finding an old feather tick pillow case. I was asked if I could do another doll like Emma and here she is. So I was wondering what you think of her? She has been signed dated & numbered. Andy is doll #10 in my jointed doll collection. Her arms and legs are attached with buttons and can be moved. She is a 21" rag stuffed coffee stained muslin doll.She is heavy like the old tyme feel. Her clothing is prim and coffee stained. Included is her little coffee stained dolly wrapped in a coffee stained tattered blanket.

Kitchen Closet Door Covered Part 2

Well the crosspieces were cut and painted. But there were paw prints in the paint. I guess you can see how that happened not once but twice. That's how I got this photo. Finally they were dry and nailed to the door. That door knob just really sucked. Hubby said you just wanted the door to look old and that door knob don't look right. Yes I want it to look like an old farm house and like I don't already know how bad the door knob looks. We found a new door knob but no hinge buckles. It reminds me of the kitchen door to my grandparents house. My grandmother wanted to update it but grandpap always said no. Well he did make it after all. They are gone but the door is still there for now. Of course I just had to hang a doll from a nail. She holds plastic walmart bags for hubbies lunches. I told hubby when he moves the furnace to the basement I would like another door and shelves built inside the hole for a pantry. Someday. Of course he just rolled his eyes. He knows it will never end.

Kitchen Closet Door Covered Part 1

I wanted the door to look more prim and blend in with the beadboard on the walls. I seen an idea in Country Sampler Home Tour Edition and I just had to have mine that way. So Hubby picked up a pack of pine planks. They were cut & painted then glued to the door. So this is what it looks like now. I still have plans for more. Like some black hinges and door knob. Need some crosspieces cut and screwed in place.

Kitchen Entrance Part 2 & Doll faces

I said I wanted a change and here it is. I liked the color paint Andys Primitive Farmhouse painted her hoosier cabinet. The color I got ended up looking lighter. The garbage can cabinet was white, brown, black and now tan. With it being lighter than I planed I decided to wipe it down with walnut stain and I liked it much better. So did one of my sons (before the satin he said it looked like puke he likes it now). So the shelf got some stain to. The shelf was stained and painted barn red when I bought it at a friends yard sale. I then painted it black and now tan. My friend might want it back. So everything was put in its place. The closet door and floor need updated soon. I hope very soon! I have plans for this tall chimney cabinet later. The dolls have not been forgotten. I have stitched their faces and next the staining process will come.
