First Try Cross Stitching

I have admired such beautiful samplers her on the blog. I have wanted to try my hand at it. At the urging of my therapist I dove in. Help I ran out of fabric before stitches were completed in heigth.

  1. I used to do cross stitch! I enjoyed it a lot, but haven't done any in years! I would suggest just completing the part of the pattern that's in the hoop area, and then moving the hoop to finish where you ran out of room. Is the piece large enough to do that?

  3. Hi Lara,
I'm an avid cross stitcher and have been for years but I can also admit I "run out of room" on a lot of my stitchery. Just make it your own and change the pattern to fit. I find that stitching while watching tv is very relaxing for me and some days, it's the only thing that keeps me sane.

    Donna

    1. Thank you. Your suggestion to change the pattern has already entered my mind. But for my first project not being experienced I purchased a longer piece of fabric. Later if I get more experienced I'll embark pattern changes. Thank you.

  11. Laura, your cross stitching is lovely, I have just recently finished a few projects but they have been difficult. I am using reading glasses and an ott lamp, but still having trouble. The smallest aida cloth I have used is 16 count.I don't know if I can ever stitch on linen or osanburg. hugs, Lecia
