A New Year

A new year has come! Things are quiet here today. The boys went back to school & Hubby went back to work. Laken has not returned home from her stay with friends yet. Only the animals here to keep me company until I here that yellow school bus screach to a stop & the boys come thru the homestead living room door. So I have been busy putting away the Christmas decorations & cleaning. I am trying to get a jump start before spring in the cleaning department. I want to have lots of time to start my gardens when warm weather gets here. I started the major cleaning around Thanks Giving as I decorated the homestead. The shelf above the dinning room windows & the top of the old hooiser cabinet are the only places left to clean. I will be taking the ornaments off the tree soon & packing them away in the cheese boxes for another year. I love the soft glow of the tree lights at night so I think I will just decorate it with hearts for Valenties day. Then after Valentines is over the tree will be packed away for the year to.

I have been tweaking a bit here & there as I clean & pack away the Christmas decorations. I changed the white dishes in the plate rack. I put the brown MarCrest dishes in it for the winter. They seem to make it look more warm & cozy. My collection is short two plates. They will be on my treasure hunt list this spring when all the flea markets open up again. I am still undecided about the fireplace redo so I am putting it off for a short time yet. I have enjoyed the comments I have gotten so far. I thought maybe there would be some more yet since alot of bloggers are just getting back to their good old computers. I would not want to miss out on a terrific idea.

A thought to ponder as this new year has come. None of know just what it will bring for all us. That is out of our control. We can only pray for the best. Only God knows what it will bring. We can how ever place our trust in Him that what ever it brings He will be by our side.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall all thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. Proverbs 3:5-10

Blessings Til Next Time!

  1. It's probably wise to wait a little bit on the fireplace redo...especially if you're still not sure what you want ;) :) :) Oh, the kitchen photo is lovely. My father really loves wood...and he'd LOVE this. I noticed the floor. It's beautiful. Is that real wood too ? :) :) :) The idea of decorating your tree with items for Valentine's Day. That's cute :) :) Have a great week. Love and hugs from Oregon :) :) :)

  3. Your home is so cozy. I enlarged the pictures so I could look closer at your Hooiser Cabinet. I love all the wood. Mine is the original green color. I will have to post it sometime with its story.
I have also been cleaning corners a little deeper while putting Christmas decorating away. Some stays up all year, like my mantel. Have fun cleaning what's left. Everything looks tidy to me. Have a blessed year full of surprises.

  4. Thanks for the comment on my blog!

I think leaving the tree up with hearts on it for Valentine's day sounds lovely!! I keep a pencil tree up all year with misc. decorations... but I like the theme idea. I might have to do something special for Valentine's day as well!

  6. Thanks for stopping by my blog! It has been great fun reading through your posts. You have a truly beautiful home! I look forward to reading and seeing more tomorrow.

I found the post about your stove interesting. My husband had wanted a flat top stove in the worst way, but I was told my cast iron pans would melt it. I dream of the day when we get one that works off of gas. For some reason, I cook better with a flame. I have electric now. :( But that day will come in its own time!

You have a wonderful blog, and I enjoy the inspirational messages that can be found here. I look forward to following along. Thank you so much for inviting me over! :)
